Jamie studied theater arts at the University of California, Riverside before his time behind the lens. After dabbling in documentaries and interning at the California Museum of Photography’s Digital Studio, Jamie set sail for Japan where he encountered kamikaze-themed biker gangs or bosozoku (Speed Tribes) and produced the world’s first foreign take on the subject: Sayonara Speed Tribes, a documentary feature.
From that experience, Jamie emerged as a veritable conduit into Japan’s underbelly of subcultures, as well as a skilled DP, director, and producer. Following this success, he formed and ran Figure8Productions. After a decade working in Tokyo, it was time to take on the challenge of a new metropolis – New York City. His time in New York has opened new opportunities to work with GRAMMY Award winner Common, Guinness, Nextdoor, The Kyoto Prize, and U.S Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of Brooklyn.
A native Wisconsinite, Alex majored in percussion performance at Lawrence University, where he studied classical and non-Western musical traditions. A lifelong cinephile, he naturally gravitated toward creating short films, music videos, visual albums, promotional materials, and social media content.
After performing at Carnegie Hall and soaking in the city, Alex saw his future in the cultural capital of the U.S. – New York City. Leveraging his international network of musicians and industry connections, Alex has worked on projects with GRAMMY Award-winning artists such as Shakira and Deadmau5, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, JPMorganChase, Amazon and Squarespace.
